The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) has successfully executed a live-ammunition missile firing exercise in the coastal district of Cox's Bazar, situated near the Rakhine (Arakan) state border of Myanmar, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced.

The drill, which concluded on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, utilized the BAF's FM-90 surface-to-air missile systems. The operation was carried out by the 301 Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) unit at the Air Defense Missile Firing Training Range (CADFR) in Nidania, Cox's Bazar.

Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan inspected the training site to monitor the ground-level implementation of the program.

During his visit, the Air Chief emphasized that rigorous, technology-driven training is vital to maximizing the capabilities of advanced military equipment and enhancing personnel efficiency.

The high-profile exercise was attended by senior military and security officials, including the BAF Chief of Operations, the Commander of BAF Base Cox's Bazar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army's 10th Infantry Division, alongside representatives from the Bangladesh Navy and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The live-fire drill follows the recent deployment of two Bangladeshi military units to the Myanmar border area, a move authorities stated was aimed at curbing rising criminal activity within refugee camps.
