The woman who was shot in Älvsjö on Friday has died.

Two boys under the age of 18 have been arrested on probable cause on suspicion of murder. They are not residents of Stockholm.

– They do not appear to have any connection to the victim, says prosecutor Lukas Tigerstrand to SVT News.

The 25-year-old woman was shot in Kämpetorpshallarna, in Älvsjö in southern Stockholm, at around 9 p.m. on Friday.

She was taken to hospital with very serious injuries, and on Saturday police announced that she had died.

On Sunday, police were again working at the scene.

– I decided at lunchtime today to block off the sports hall and an area in the vicinity and in the afternoon the police took investigative measures there, says Lukas Tigerstrand.

"Nothing points to a threat"

The police are working extensively to clarify the motive.

– There is nothing that points to a threat against this particular person at the moment. What we are doing today is mapping the context of why this serious act of violence has occurred, says local police chief Kristoffer Olofsson.

A close relative of the woman was sentenced to prison for several crimes in 2023. He has also been charged with murder and attempted murder, which he was acquitted of.

According to information provided to SVT, a possible motive for Friday's shooting could be revenge, as the woman's relatives were said to have been on a so-called "death list".

Two arrested

On Saturday morning, two boys under the age of 18 were arrested, after a large number of interrogations during the evening and night. They are suspected on probable grounds of murder and aggravated weapons offenses.

Both boys deny the crime, Tigerstrand says.

The police do not want to go into where the suspects were arrested or whether they are known to the police before.

Is there a risk of retaliation?

– It's not something I can go into in this case, it's too early in the investigation, but we always have with us the parameter of preventing further acts of violence, says Olofsson.

“Terrible”

Maudit Gaur lives near where the shootings took place.

– We saw a lot of blue lights here yesterday. It happens every now and then, so we weren't that surprised. But it was stronger than usual, he tells SVT Nyheter.

He continues:

– Then I read the news this morning. It's terrible.

Many young people there

When the shooting occurred, many young people were on the premises because several youth sports activities, including a football match, were taking place at the facility.

A large number of young people who were on the premises were taken into custody, and then released.

– It is a very dark and traumatic event, so it is natural that it creates concern both for the individuals who were there but also for residents in the area, says Olofsson.
