Fernanda Gastelum, a 22-year-old pregnant woman, died on Monday, September 28, after being shot multiple times in front of her home in the Ampliación 12 de Octubre neighborhood of Los Mochis, Sinaloa. The baby she was carrying—approximately seven months into gestation—also did not survive, despite an emergency cesarean section performed at a private hospital. Her husband had rushed her there following the armed attack, the motive for which remains unclear to authorities. The assault took place around 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the intersection of Juan S. Millán and Sindicatura Higuera de Zaragoza streets, as Fernanda arrived at her home in a private vehicle. At that moment, a man approached the vehicle and fired repeatedly at the young woman. The assailant fled the scene immediately, according to a reconstruction published by the outlet *Tribuna de la Bahía* in Sinaloa. Local media identified the victim as Fernanda “N,” 31 years old—a figure that differs from other reports regarding her age. *Tribuna de la Bahía* noted that the woman was between seven and eight months pregnant at the time of the attack.
