A conversation taking place on a public street ended in tragedy after armed men surprised two individuals and opened fire on them in the Cerro de la Campana neighborhood, in the southern part of Monterrey. The attack occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Novena Avenida, at the intersection with Mina Street, where two young men were left dead. Neighbors identified one of the victims as 17-year-old Javier, who died as a result of the gunshot wounds. During the attack, 42-year-old José Juan was also wounded; he received emergency assistance and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment. According to preliminary investigations, the two young men were talking when they were caught off guard by armed men, who opened fire multiple times before fleeing the scene. Authorities cordoned off the area while investigative agents and forensic experts processed the scene, searching for evidence to help determine how the attack unfolded and to locate those responsible. Based on conditions at the site, it is suspected that the two young men may have been traveling on a motorcycle, though this detail is still being investigated by the authorities. As of now, the motive for the double homicide has not been established.
