An armed attack near the "El Salado" street market in the Iztapalapa borough of Mexico City has left one woman dead and three other people injured. The incident took place on Francisco César Morales Street, at its intersection with Gabriel González Mier, in the Santa Martha Acatitla neighborhood of the Iztapalapa borough. According to initial police reports, two individuals stepped out of a vehicle and opened fire multiple times on people at the "El Salado" street market. The incident is being investigated as a targeted attack directed at local merchants. During the attack, a woman—approximately 60 years old—was struck by three bullets in the abdomen. Paramedics from the Rescue and Medical Emergency Squadron (ERUM) arrived at the scene in Iztapalapa, Mexico City, and confirmed the woman’s death, given the severity of her injuries. Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased was simply passing through the area when the shots were fired and appears to have been an unintended victim (collateral damage). Three other people at the scene also sustained gunshot wounds. Emergency responders provided initial medical care and transported the injured to nearby hospitals within the Iztapalapa borough for specialized treatment.
