Armed individuals opened fire in the aisles of the busy El Salado street market, located in the Santa Martha Acatitla neighborhood of Iztapalapa, Mexico City. The assailants fired multiple shots while pursuing an individual; the gunfire struck a woman—approximately 60 years old—who was eating inside the market area. The tragic event caused immediate shock among the vendors and shoppers present in this part of Iztapalapa. Police officers cordoned off the scene to secure ballistic evidence. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the site but confirmed that the woman had died instantly from gunshot wounds.
