After fighting breaks out in Burin Taung, Palaw, the military shells villages with heavy weapons, damaging a church hall; residents of villages along the Myeik-Dawei road are also fleeing as military columns advance

Yangon, October 15

According to a statement issued by the KNU Myeik-Dawei District and comments from local military news sources, after fighting broke out in Burin Taung in Palaw Township, Tanintharyi Region, the terrorist military shelled villages with heavy weapons, resulting in damage to a church hall.

On October 12, fighting occurred between the terrorist military, which was stationed in Burin Taung along the Myeik-Dawei Road in Palaw Township, and revolutionary forces. During the clash, the terrorist military reportedly suffered casualties, although the number could not yet be confirmed.

Following the fighting, on October 14, the terrorist military shelled Burin Taung with 120 mm artillery fired from Artillery Battalion 309 (AmaTa-309).

As a result of the heavy artillery attack, one hall building belonging to the Christian religious establishment in Burin Taung was damaged. Although there were no civilian casualties during the attack, residents of the village were forced to flee to safer locations.

"At present, the military column is advancing from both the Palaw Township side and the Thayetchaung Township side, carrying out a pincer advance along the Myeik-Dawei Road. The ground situation remains tense. Since the military cannot win in battle, they are targeting villages and attacking them. Right now, people from both the Thayetchaung side and the Palaw Township side are fleeing their villages in their entirety," a local military news source said.

Similarly, in Thayetchaung Township, a terrorist military column that departed from Win Wa Camp is advancing through villages along the Myeik-Dawei Road. As a result, residents of Ngai, Win Wa, and Mindat are fleeing to safer locations.

The military column is reportedly continuing its advance through villages along the Myeik-Dawei Road and is continuing to shell the area with heavy weapons. Civilians remain displaced, and the security situation remains tense.
