About 20 Myanmar youths attack three garbage-collection workers in Pathum Thani; victims seriously injured, police seize two homemade bombs

Yangon, October 14

According to reports from Thai media, a group of Myanmar youths attacked a dormitory housing Myanmar nationals in the Khlong Sam area of Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province, Thailand. As a result, three Myanmar garbage-collection workers sustained serious injuries, and two homemade bombs were found at the scene.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on October 14, an incident report was received by Police Major Thanasit Ariyalertrak, an investigator from Khlong Luang Police Station, stating that several people had been injured in a group assault.

Police officers and rescue personnel responded to the scene and found three Myanmar male garbage collectors, aged between 21 and 22, inside an unnamed dormitory. The victims were seriously injured and calling for help. They were immediately transported to hospital for emergency treatment.

The injured men had sustained severe wounds, including knife cuts to the left and right shoulders, stab wounds to the left ribs, left side of the back, and left hip, as well as serious penetration wounds to the left rib area inflicted with a homemade sharpened weapon.

During the investigation, police found bloodstains throughout the dormitory and also discovered two homemade bombs. Authorities temporarily secured and restricted access to the area. Blood trails were found extending to the road behind the dormitory, leading police to believe that some members of the youth group responsible for the attack may also have been injured while the victims resisted.

According to the dormitory owner, approximately 20 Myanmar youths arrived on motorcycles and parked in front of the building before entering the room where the injured men were staying and carrying out the attack. Police stated that the specific cause of the confrontation remains unknown.

Officials from Khlong Luang Police Station documented and examined the crime scene. They said that the injured victims will be questioned further once they regain consciousness in hospital. Police are also reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area in an effort to identify and prosecute the youths responsible for the attack.
