RPG event in Lebanon on Fri 9th October 2026

On 9/10/2026, following ongoing surveillance of the Lebanese-Syrian border and the illegal crossings used for smuggling, an armed clash occurred in the outskirts of Arsal between army elements and the citizen (A.B.), who works in smuggling, without any injuries, while he was attempting to smuggle a quantity of drugs from Lebanese territory to Syrian territory. He was stopped, and approximately 60 kg of hashish, 35 kg of Captagon substance, and 22 kg of marijuana were seized from his possession, in addition to a military pistol and a quantity of ammunition. Additionally, an army unit in the Qasr - Hermel area thwarted a smuggling operation across the border from Syrian territory to Lebanese territory, and seized a quantity of rocket-propelled grenades and approximately 24 kg of highly explosive TNT substance, prepared for smuggling. The seized items were handed over, and an investigation was initiated with the detainee under the supervision of the competent judiciary, with follow-up underway to arrest those involved in the explosives smuggling operation.
