Almost 4800 people have to leave their homes because of the defusing. Shortly before the hurricane low, residents in Hamburg - Wilhelmsburg received a second official warning today: A 1,000-pound aircraft bomb from the Second World War was found during construction work. This must now be defused. According to the police and fire brigade, the blocking radius around the bomb is 300 meters and the warning radius is 1000 meters. Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg: Almost 5,000 people have to leave their homes after a bomb was found In the afternoon, the fire brigade began to evacuate all the houses in the restricted area. As the NDR reports, this affects almost 4800 people. People within a radius of 1000 meters from the site where the bomb was found should not be outdoors. The duds are on Rotenhäuser Damm in a ten meter deep shaft under water. Divers had examined the site more closely and can confirm that it is an American bomb with an impact fuse. Several roads are closed around the site. Only when all residents in the restricted area have been brought to safety will the bomb be recovered and rendered harmless, said Michael Hein, the demolitions officer for the explosive ordnance clearance service. According to the Hamburg fire brigade, the defusing is initially planned for around 6 p.m., but this depends on how quickly the evacuation takes place. Hein hopes that everything will go very quickly, also because of the announced storm that is supposed to hit Hamburg in the evening with hurricane gusts. According to the Hamburg fire brigade, the following applies to all people within the warning radius: "Keep your doors and windows closed. Do not leave the house. Stay in the building on the side facing away from the bomb." All motorists are asked to drive around the area as far as possible. Significant traffic jams are to be expected. After all: The S-Bahn traffic on lines S3 and S31 is not affected by a closure.
