Bomb (Air Delivered) event in Lippe district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Lage area, Germany on Wed 2nd February 2022

A bomb was found during construction work in Lage. The area around Schötmarsche Straße/corner of Steinbrinkstraße must be evacuated. Update 7:45 p.m. An aircraft bomb was found during excavation work. It weighs around 500 kilograms. Therefore, the environment must be evacuated within a radius of 500 meters. Please go immediately to the Werreanger school center (Breite Straße 3, 32791 Lage). All people who are unable to walk call the fire protection and rescue control center on 05261/19222. The explosive ordnance clearance service is currently with one person on site and traveling from Gelsenkirchen. The period of the evacuation cannot be named at the moment. Update 8:45 p.m. The area that needs to be evacuated is 0.79 square kilometers and around 1,800 people live in the area. There is an overview map on the website of the district administration for orientation. There are three nursing homes in the area, only one of which needs to be evacuated. The police will escort the evacuation by going door to door. The police officers are currently coming from all over NRW. Update 10:30 p.m .: The evacuation is carried out in cooperation between the forces at the site and the crisis management team of the Lippe district. In the meantime, the crisis team has organized transport for all residents of the old people's and nursing home with passenger trains. In addition, 7 people who had asked for help are being transported from their homes.
