Ukraine's General Staff says UAV found at ammo dump near Ichnia. PHOTO Phantom drone was found on the ground in the territory of the military storage facility near the city of Ichnia today, Nov. 13. "The unmanned aerial vehicle was lying on the ground near one of the storage sites. The preliminary inspection showed no signs of damage. The UAV was handed over to the Security Service of Ukraine, investigative actions are being undertaken," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement, Censor.NET reports. The General Staff stressed that any UAVs spotted flying over military bases and sites where military units are stationed, as well as over military installations, storage facilities and ammunition depots, or approaching them will be taken out of action by means of electronic warfare or shot down without warning. Those involved in such actions will be detained and held accountable according to existing laws. Cell phone could have been used to trigger bomb at ammo dump near Ichnia, top military prosecutor says News Censor.NET Incidents Investigation found that an unidentifiable cell phone was operating within the network coverage area near the ammunition storage facility in the Chernihiv region exactly when the ordnance started exploding there. "The security agencies on behalf of the military prosecutors and the investigators have processed tons of information and found that at the time the explosions started, a cell phone with no ІМЕІ code was operating within the network coverage area. That is, it was unidentifiable. It was the only device with such feature in that area, which makes us consider it as a clear sign of an unidentified cell phone being used to trigger some sort of explosive device," Main Military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatolii Matios said on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel, Censor.NET reports. Matios also said that blasts at the ammunition depot’s storage yard No. 133, where the first explosion presumably occurred, were similar to those that rocked the ammunition storage facility in Kalynivka (the Vinnytsia region) and Balaklia (the Kharkiv region). "Scene examination at the arms depot where the first explosion most likely occurred – the storage yard No. 133 – showed that the nature and causes of explosions were similar to the ones in Kalynivka and Balaklia. They are not consistent with the nature of artillery shell or MLRS missile explosion," he said. As reported, an explosion rocked the support area of the 6th arms depot near the town of Ichnia, the Chernihiv region, around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 9 setting it on fire. The corresponding security measures were introduced all across the Chernihiv region. The State Emergency Service reported at least 10,000 locals being evacuated from the danger zone. The prosecutor's office opened criminal proceedings over negligence. The pre-trial investigation was entrusted to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) directorate in the Chernihiv region. According to the SBU, there are three theories behind the causes of the accident, with the major one being an act of sabotage committed by a subversive group. Two others are the violation of the rules for fire safety or storage of ammunition, and deliberate arson or detonation in order to conceal the lack of ammunition Source: The fire at the ammunition storage facility near Ichnia was completely extinguished on Oct. 10.
