On 7 October 2026, in Popayan (Cauca), at least two unidentified perpetrators on a motorcycle threw a grenade at a police control post or patrol car, injuring two police officers and 3 civilians in the Alfonso Lopez neighbourhood, near La Magdalena Women's Prison. One of the perpetrators was also injured by the explosion. The explosion also left considerable damage to the nearby homes and businesses. The identities of the perpetrators, as well as the reasons behind the assault, are currently unknown. There were no fatalities.
