Grenade event in Manipur, Wakan Hill Range, Imphal West District area, India on Tue 6th October 2026

On October 6, a joint team of Imphal East District Police and Central Security Forces recovered a cache of suspected looted arms, ammunition and explosives concealed at the foothills of the Wakan Hill Range under Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal West District, Manipur, Manipur Police reports on X. The recoveries included one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), one country-made AK-47, one country-made MP-5, four country-made carbines, two pistols, four country-made 12-bore single-barrel guns and 25 live rounds of assorted calibres. The team also recovered one No. 36 high-explosive (HE) grenade with detonator, one fragmentation grenade, three mortar shells and one empty mortar shell. Other items included radio-set chargers, an SLR bayonet, a flare round, helmet, jacket and boots. The recovered items were seized for further necessary legal action.
