Three alleged members of Frente 57 “Yair Bermúdez,” a FARC dissident group, were killed in a joint operation by the National Police, the Army, and the Prosecutor’s Office in the rural La María district of Buga, Valle del Cauca. Authorities said one of those killed was alias “Northon,” identified as the group’s second-in-command and accused of coordinating extortion, kidnappings, and targeted killings in the region. Troops seized a rifle, four pistols, a fragmentation grenade, ammunition, communications equipment, seven cell phones, and a 4x4 pickup truck. Police said the operation dealt a significant blow to the group’s command structure and armed capacity in central Valle del Cauca.
