On 27 September 2021, a fire broke out at an IRGC research facility near Qods city (Tehran) killing two IRGC members as a result. The circumstances of the fire are suspicious and the IRGC referred to the dead men as martyrs. Satellite photographs released by a private Israeli intelligence firm alleged that the site was an Iranian missile production facility, and that fire was the result of an explosion.
