SAA event in Negros Occidental, Toboso area, Philippines on Tue 22nd September 2026

The New People's Army (NPA)-Northern Negros (Roselyn Jean Pelle Command) boldly launched a raid and disarmament operation against a despotic landlord in the town of Toboso, Negros Occidental on September 22. The Red Army's armed action targeted Clint Aranas and his hired thugs in Sitio Ma-aswa, Barangay Gen. Luna.

According to the NPA-Northern Negros, Red fighters confiscated an M4, Micro Galil, and KG9 sub-machine gun from Aranas' office. Aranas and his family are known for exploiting farmers in Northern Negros communities. They have cases of land grabbing and harassing farmers using a private army.

Aranas also held national positions in the Philippine government in an effort to preserve his land holdings and further expand his family's wealth. In 2016, he was appointed as the second commissioner for legal affairs at the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

In 2017, he was appointed president and general manager of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). In an audit of the GSIS, the Commission on Audit released a report on “illegal incentives” worth ₱260.5 million given by Aranas to employees of the agency.

He also served as an official of the Duterte party, PDP-Laban. He is currently standing as the secretary general of the Party for Democratic Reform, which currently supports Vice President Sara Duterte.

For its successful armed action, the NPA-Northern Negros expressed gratitude to the masses who fearlessly and tirelessly support the revolutionary movement. The unit said the armed action is only proof that the people's army will remain faithful to being the backbone of the peasantry against the exploitative landlords.
