On 28 September 2021, an IED went off on Highway 4217 Si Sakhon - Chanae in Nam Won village, tambon Chang Phueak, Chanae district (Narathiwat), killing two police and injuring four others. The bomb was presumed to have been planted inside a pipe under the highway by Malay Muslim separatists, targeting a police convoy that was travelling back from their daily mission in the area. Two fatalities confirmed.
