On 30 September 2026, unknown gunmen targeted a gas pipeline at the Syrian government-owned Tishrin Thermal Power Plant near Otayba town in eastern Rural Damascus countryside by unknown means. The resulting explosion caused a fire and forced the Tishrin, Deir Ali, and An-Nasiriyah power plants out of service. Two civilians were injured. There were no fatalities.
