On 27 September 2026, the Malian army claimed to have conducted airstrikes on a position held by armed militants housing military and logistical equipment (likely JNIM, based on the group's presence in the Niono cercle and previous similar operations against it in the area) 13km east of Niono (Niono, Niono, Segou). The army claimed that militants who had participated in an attack on a military convoy (coded separately) were at the scene and that the position was 'precisely struck'. Casualties unknown.
