1st October 2026
On 1 October 2026, Pakistani military forces carried out airstrikes in the Chowam area of Shigal (Shultan) district, Kunar, bordering Pakistan's Bajaur district. The Taliban claimed that Pakistan targeted the home of a local civilian, killing six members of the family, including four children, and wounding three others, while destroying the house and killing dozens of livestock. The Taliban initially claimed that Pakistani airstrikes in Kunar and Helmand (coded separately) provinces killed nine civilians, including women and children, and wounded 11 others, with the death toll later reaching 10. Pakistan, however, claimed that it targeted two hideouts used by 'Fitna al Khawarij' (a term Pakistani authorities use for the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)), killing 22 of its members and destroying large quantities of weapons and ammunition. UNAMA also confirmed that 10 civilians were killed and nine others injured in airstrikes in Kunar and Helmand provinces, with most of the victims being children. Total 6 fatalities.
