A Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant, identified as Aqib Bashir Kumar from Trenz village in Shopian District, was killed while his accomplice managed to escape after a brief shootout with Police in Natipora area of Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, in the evening of October 8, reports Greater Kashmir. "Terrorists fired upon Srinagar Police team. Police also retaliated. During ensuing chance encounter, one terrorist got neutralised but one escaped. Arms & ammunition recovered. Identification being ascertained, " a Police spokesman said.|Meanwhile, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on October 8 said that The Resistance Front (TRF) is responsible for the recent civilian killings and it is front group of all militants’ organizations like Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen, reports Daily Excelsior. “There is a pattern as they want to terrorise the minority community”, he said. The killing of unarmed civilians in Srinagar is a move to damage and attack the age-old traditional communal harmony in Kashmir and Police has already got some clues about previous killings and will also probe the fresh incident too. He, however, was quick to add that the killers will be nabbed very soon.
