Police arrested five suspects, including three alleged shooters of the Keshav Shivala gang, and recovered five foreign-made pistols and 20 live cartridges following an exchange of fire near Thanda Road in Amritsar District on September 25, reports The Tribune. Three of the accused sustained gunshot injuries during the operation. According to Police, the operation was launched after receiving information about the movement of suspected criminals in the area. Police intercepted one of the suspects, Vishal, and allegedly recovered a .30-bore Glock pistol from his possession. During questioning, Vishal allegedly disclosed that his associates were hiding in bushes in a forested area near Thanda village Road. Police subsequently cordoned off the area and asked the suspects to surrender, but they allegedly opened fire, prompting retaliatory firing. The injured accused were identified as Chhinda Pehalwan, Shivam and Lavkesh, while Rajwinder was also among those arrested.
