Bomb (Air Delivered)
Bomb (Air Delivered) event in Cologne, Rondorf area, Germany on Tue 12th October 2021
12th October 2021
Bomb found in Cologne-Rondorf: A4 free again after defusing Several World War II bombs were found during construction work in Rondorf on Tuesday morning. They were defused in the afternoon. The A4 was also blocked. In the afternoon, the ordnance disposal service reported that all five World War II bombs had been successfully defused. According to the city of Cologne, the duds are British and American bombs with rear-impact detonators. The danger area was cordoned off and cleared to defuse it. Less than ten people and one allotment garden were affected. The A4 was also closed for about an hour between the crosses Cologne-West and South. Because a total of five bomb duds had to be defused, the city initially expected that the defusing would take longer than in operations in which only one dud had to be rendered harmless. Ultimately, however, the defusing went quite quickly.
