A man was found with gunshot wounds outside Jönköping on Thursday evening. No one has been arrested.

– We have a plaintiff who is seriously injured, says Oscar Palmgren at the police command center.

Police were called to Norrahammar, southwest of Jönköping, shortly after 10:30 p.m. following reports of gunfire outside. A man with gunshot wounds was found at the scene.

– Everything indicates that it happened outdoors, says police commander Linus Maxe.

During the night, police confirmed that the man is being treated in hospital, and according to the region, he has serious injuries.

No one arrested yet

An area was cordoned off overnight and police technicians were on site working on extensive investigative measures. The cordons at the scene have now been removed this morning.

As of 8 a.m. Friday morning, no one had been arrested. Several people are said to have witnessed the incident, according to police.

– We have made interesting findings that need to be investigated, but I will not go into further detail about what those findings are due to the current confidentiality of the preliminary investigation, says Linus Maxe.

A preliminary investigation into attempted murder and aggravated weapons offenses has been initiated.

“Uncomfortable”

A neighbor who SVT spoke to says she was at home watching TV when she heard two shots.

“When I went outside a while later, the area was full of police,” she says.

She describes the incident as worrying.

“It's clear that it feels uncomfortable when something like this happens so close to your home,” says the neighbor.
