SAA event in Mexico on Sun 27th September 2026

An armed attack outside the Hidalgo Metro station in the Tabacalera neighborhood of the Cuauhtémoc borough left one man dead and two people injured, and resulted in the arrest of two gunmen by the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC). The attack was a targeted shooting carried out at the intersection of Paseo de la Reforma and Avenida Hidalgo; according to eyewitness accounts, an individual shot the victim at close range and immediately fled the scene. The victim collapsed on the sidewalk next to a semi-permanent dessert stall after being struck by at least five bullets in the head, neck, and chest. Pedestrians passing by the public transit entrance immediately alerted emergency services via the 911 emergency number.
