A joint operation carried out by personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) and the Jalisco State Police led to the discovery and seizure of a camp used by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the town of San Francisco de Ixcatán, in the municipality of Zapopan.

During the inspection of the property, military and police personnel seized an arsenal consisting of six long firearms, 50 magazines for assault rifles, and four magazines designed for a .50-caliber Barrett rifle, as well as bulletproof vests and radio communication equipment. Four late-model SUVs and five motorcycles used by the criminal cell were also seized at the site.

Furthermore, law enforcement agencies found five metal containers in the area that had been adapted for launching payloads from unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). To address the threat posed by the explosive materials, the Special Technologies and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (TEDAX) of the State Secretariat of Security intervened.

The head of the State Security Secretariat, Juan Pablo Hernández González, confirmed that the specialized team safely defused a total of 35 explosive devices: 25 drone detonators and 10 homemade “nipple-type” devices. The neutralization operations were carried out using remote-controlled firing lines, operated by certified personnel with international training provided by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and police forces from Colombia and Spain.

No arrests were made during the operation. The property and the seized weapons were placed under the custody of the appropriate authorities and added to the investigative file at the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) to determine liability.
