On 21 September 2026, Russian forces carried out mass drone strikes on Zaporizhzhia, Zaporizhia, striking residential, commercial, and educational infrastructure and injuring 6 civilians, including a 52-year-old man who suffered burns. The strikes damaged more than 15 apartment buildings, completely destroyed around 10 apartments, shattered more than 600 windows, damaged cars, destroyed premises at a shopping center, and damaged 3 buildings of Zaporizhzhia National University, including a direct hit that caused extensive fire damage to one building. Fires also broke out at the shopping center and residential buildings.
