A man has been shot in Gävle, reports Gefle Dagblad .

The man has been taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the foot, police confirm to SVT Gävleborg.

The police received the alarm at 10:04 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The shooting occurred outdoors in the Sätra district.

The man was awake and talkative when he was taken to hospital.

– We are on site with several patrols and it is an ongoing operation. The area is cordoned off. No one has been arrested at this time, said Oscar Öster, commanding officer at the Central Police Region to SVT Gävleborg on Tuesday evening.

The incident is being investigated as suspected aggravated assault and aggravated weapons offense.

On Wednesday morning, the police spokesperson stated that no one had been arrested during the night – and that there was no other new information about the shooting.
