On 21 September 2026, night, around 1:15 am Muscat time, suspected Iranian forces (coded as IRGC by default) launched two suspected drones with debris directly impacting the ADNOC-managed Al Maryah LPG tanker (IMO: 9393682) off the Coast of Jazirat Bu Rashid (Khasab, Musandam) while transiting the Strait of Hormuz outbound. There were no casualties and the ship was able to sail to its next port of call, Khor Fakkan in the UAE. There were conflicting reports on the nature of the attack: while UKMTO reported that the vessel was struck by debris from two unknown projectiles that exploded in the air -- with the language indicating a possible US interception -- a maritime security firm reported that the ship was directly struck by a drone.
