On 21 September 2026, the Malian army claimed to have conducted airstrikes on a group of armed militants concealed under vegetation (likely JNIM, based on the presence of the group in the area, recent attacks against military forces in the Sevare air base, and previous similar military operations against them around the city) north-east of Sevare (Mopti, Mopti, Mopti). The army also claimed that no movement was observed at the site after the strike (likely implying that they killed militants). Casualties unknown.
