– It's not a question of an explosion or anything like that, but the public at the scene feared a possible shooting, says Olle Älveroth, press spokesman for the police.
A large number of police units are working in the area as a result of the incident. It is currently unclear how seriously the victim is injured, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to the hospital.
The police are on site with large resources.
– I understand that people are afraid, but we are on site with a high presence and there is nothing going on right now, says Olle Älveroth.
The police have set up roadblocks and forensic experts have been sent to the scene. A preliminary investigation into attempted murder and aggravated weapons offenses has been launched.
– I saw people running with medical bags down the escalator, says a witness who was inside Mirum to SVT.
Witness: Heard two shots.
SVT has spoken to a witness at the scene who heard two shots and saw the shooter flee the scene on an electric scooter. According to the witness, the shot hit the person in the arm.
According to the witness, the person shot was a man in his 20s and the shooter appeared to be the same age. However, police are not releasing the ages of those involved.
– It's an adult person, we can say that, says Olle Älveroth.
Parts of the mall are still cordoned off late Friday afternoon.
– We are working hard on the case and changing personnel to have good stamina, says police spokesperson Johnny Gustavsson.
The police cannot yet answer whether there is a connection between the incident and the object that was previously investigated in Haga.
Three arrested for involvement
On Friday evening, the police announced that they had arrested and detained three people suspected of involvement in the incident. This was after several house searches and witness statements from the public.
– They have been arrested in and around Norrköping and they are people in their 20s. Among other things, the public's observations and knowledge of local police officers led to the arrests, says police spokesperson Johnny Gustavsson.
