One civilian was killed and two others were injured when the military launched heavy artillery attacks in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, Program Director Nai Aue Mon of the Human Rights Foundation of Monland told Khit Thit Media.
On September 22 around 12:00 PM, Artillery Battalion 310 and Light Infantry Battalion 207 based in Theinzayat Town fired nearly 30 heavy artillery shells toward local villages in the absence of any active clashes.
During the shelling, three heavy artillery shells landed near Zeebyaung village, while four shells landed and exploded inside a rubber plantation in Kanyin Aing village.
Due to the explosions, 45-year-old U Than Soe, who was working in the rubber plantation, was struck in the back of the head by shrapnel and died on the spot.
