IED event in Colombia on Mon 21st September 2026

In the Media Loma neighborhood of the municipality of San Andrés de Cuerquia, Antioquia, soldiers from the No. 10 Light Infantry Battalion Colonel Atanasio Girardot of the #CuartaBrigada neutralized a terrorist action against the civilian population by locating and destroying in a controlled manner explosive material that would be used by members of the GAO-r Structure 36, from the alias Calarcá faction. At the site, 2 cans were found containing 25 kg of black powder each, 1 improvised explosive device type grenade to be used via drone, and 1 undetonated explosive device installed as a prepared area on a road. The material was destroyed in a controlled manner by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialists. This military action contributes to protecting the civilian population and preventing harm to residents and the Public Force who travel through this rural area in northern Antioquia.
