Projectile event in Mandalay Region, Myingyan Township area, Myanmar on Wed 23rd September 2026

Military council forces fired heavy artillery at a monastic school in Dhakyun Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, without any ongoing battle taking place, killing a 7-year-old primary student and injuring two other children. The attack occurred yesterday, September 23, after 3:00 PM, when Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 15 based in Myingyan town fired heavy artillery, causing two shells to explode inside the Dhakyun Village monastic school compound. Due to the explosions, a KG student died, while a 7th-grade female student and a 2nd-grade male student sustained injuries, a local male resident said.
