Fulani Bandits Killed Two vigilantes in Plateau Tit for Tat Attack
By: Zagazola Makama
Two members of a vigilante group have been shot dead by suspected Fulani Bandits in Yelwa Village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:10 p.m. on Sept. 23, 2026, when troops of Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), deployed at Yelwa, responded to reports of sporadic shooting in the community.
The troops, upon arrival at the location, discovered two vigilantes, identified as 50-year-old Philibus Maichibi and 60-year-old Pam Alamba, lying dead with gunshot wounds. The attackers had fled the area before the arrival of the troops. The troops subsequently launched search operations across the general area but did not make contact with the attackers. Security forces have continued to dominate the area with offensive operations aimed at tracking the perpetrators and preventing further attacks.
