On September 21 at around 1:00 AM, junta forces conducted an airstrike on Taung Phu village in Pauktaung Township, killing one woman and injuring another. Local residents stated that air attacks were launched in two separate waves during the early morning and at dawn.

The airstrikes damaged structures at the historic Taung Phu Pagoda, a local monastery, and a school, while destroying several homes. Pagoda stupas, the ordination hall, and several Buddha statues inside the compound also sustained heavy damage.
