SAA event in Bago Region, Pyay area, Myanmar on Fri 18th September 2026

In the Wathtekan area of Pyay Township, Bago Region, Kyaw San, the administrator of Thit Cho Pin village tract who was actively kidnapping and selling local youth for porter conscription, was shot and killed, local residents told Yangon Khit Thit news agency.

On September 18 around 5:00 PM, Kyaw San, the administrator of Thit Cho Pin village tract in the Wathtekan area of Pyay Township, was shot inside his own residence in Thea Kyae Gyi village by unknown gunmen and died on the spot.

Administrator Kyaw San was known for informing the Wathtekan Police Station and General Administration Department to conduct porter raids, arresting and selling local youth from Thit Cho Pin village tract. He also collaborated with Pyay Township Agriculture Officer Aung San Win to withhold government-issued fertilizer meant for farmland and cotton plantations, selling it for personal gain instead of distributing it fully to the public.

It has not yet been confirmed which group carried out the shooting operation, and local revolutionary forces did not respond when contacted for inquiries.
