Missile event in Yemen on Tue 22nd September 2026

The airstrike, believed to be American, targeted an element in front of the sea off the security directorate, near the fishing landing dock in the Brom area of Al-Mukalla city, Hadramaut Governorate. According to preliminary information, the target was Suleiman Saeed Al-Muhammadi, following a meeting at the same targeted location with other elements. According to a security source, Al-Muhammadi had been frequenting Marib and moving between Wadi Hadramaut and Al-Mukalla, and recently two individuals from outside the Al-Mukalla area had visited him. A jihadist source confirmed that Al-Muhammadi is linked to a commander in Al-Qaeda known by the nom de guerre "Abu Al-Layth Al-Hadrami," within a cell that was working to coordinate logistics between Yemen and Somalia, and to plan operations inside Al-Mukalla, most notably targeting the Central Prison and smuggling out the organization's detainees, in addition to coordinating with local fishermen to monitor ships on the international maritime route.
