On 17 September 2026, in Hpet Kya village (Ponnagyun township, Sittwe district, Rakhine state), the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes using jet fighters and Y-12 transport aircraft and dropped over 10 bombs and fired machine guns into the village around 11:30 pm. The airstrike severely injured a 40-year-old village administrator and set fire to the house, his tractor, farming equipment, and stored rice stocks.
