On 12 September 2026, between Sar Wa Tee and Tha Byay Kone villages (coded as Sar Wa Tee) (Bhamo township, Bhamo district, Kachin state), a combined force of the Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA) and the Kachin Region People's Defense Force (KPDF) conducted drone strikes on a Myanmar military flotilla travelling from Bhamo town along the Ayeyarwady River. 3 tugboats, one combat vessel and one speedboat caught fire. One of those boats sank. Casualties unknown.
