IED event in Afghanistan on Wed 16th September 2026
16th September 2026
On 16 September 2026, the Green Unit, the armed wing of the Afghanistan Green Trend, carried out an operation, involving an IED, against the Taliban's head of the jihadist madrasa in Chawush Darah village of Faiz Abad district, Badakhshan. AGT claimed that they changed the decision to detonate the IED because children were present but later detonated it while a Taliban mine clearance and engineering team (coded as military) was attempting to defuse it, resulting in the deaths of three Taliban members. The Taliban confirmed the incident but attributed it to a generator explosion at a house and indicated that the three victims were laborers and residents of the village who were trying to dismantle a leftover unexploded ordnance. Total 3 fatalities.
