In Mykolaiv, a 51-year-old man was detained on suspicion of the premeditated murder of a 55-year-old local resident. According to the investigation, during the conflict, the man first hit the victim with a package, and after he fell, he stabbed him about 18 times with a knife.

This was reported on September 21 by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Mykolaiv region.

A report of a fight between men on Raiduzhna Street in Mykolaiv and the death of one of them was received by the 102 hotline on September 19. Witnesses reported the incident to the police.

The conflict occurred near a store where one of the men was buying alcohol. After he went outside, a verbal argument broke out between him and the 55-year-old man, the report said.

According to the investigation, a 51-year-old man hit his opponent with a package of goods. When the victim started to run away, tripped and fell, the suspect stabbed him about 18 times with a knife.

The police reported that the 51-year-old man had previously come into the attention of law enforcement officers.

After the fight, according to investigators, the man went home. Police located him and detained him.

Law enforcement officers found a knife used to inflict the blows near the deceased's body. Forensic scientists seized it and sent it for examination.

The man was informed of suspicion of premeditated murder. The court is expected to impose a preventive measure on the suspect in the near future. The sanction of the article provides for up to 15 years in prison.
