NEW: Romania today has recovered three drone fragments from the Black Sea inside its Exclusive Economic Zone.
Romania’s Defence Ministry said the Maritime Coordination Centre was informed Sunday about floating objects reported by commercial vessels at three separate locations in the Romanian EEZ.
Romanian Navy EOD specialists were sent to investigate and recover the objects. On the way to the first location, they identified and recovered a drone fragment around 37 nautical miles from Constanța. The fragment posed no pyrotechnic risk.
At the second location, around 42 nautical miles from Constanța, another drone fragment was found and recovered from the water. Authorities determined that it did not contain an explosive payload.
The team then continued to a third location, around 33 nautical miles from Constanța, where a commercial vessel had reported another piece of drone debris. That fragment was also recovered and posed no pyrotechnic risk
The investigation and recovery operation was carried out after the objects were reported by the commercial vessels APOLLO and Campos Tide.
