On September 7, Security Forces (SFs) of the 199th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recovered 14 Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) dumps containing weapons, 10 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), detonators and other materials during an intelligence-based search operation in Bijapur District, Chhattisgarh, reports ETV Bharat. The operation was conducted by personnel of B/199 and F/199 Companies and the Young Platoon in the dense forests of Edri, Harra, Nayapara and Sarpanchpara in the Pidia and Kuppaguda areas. The recovered arms comprised one .303 bolt-action rifle, five Bharmar rifles and one country-made 12-bore rifle. The cache also included eight detonators, Codex wire, wireless sets, plastic and steel containers, electrical materials used for IED fabrication and Maoist clothing, with 99 items reportedly seized. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Commandant Anand Kumar and supervision of Deputy Commandant Darshan Yadav. No casualties were reported. The recoveries came amid the Governments March 31 claim that the country had become effectively free of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) after nearly six decades of violence. Recent Maoist dumps were also recovered in Sukma, Kondagaon and Kanker Districts.
