Armed robbers kidnap passenger after blocking highway in Plateau

Suspected armed robbers and kidnappers have abducted a passenger after blocking the Kassa–Barkin Ladi highway with stones in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 1956 hours on Sept. 15, 2026, along the road in the Barkin Ladi area.
According to security sources, troops of Sector 4, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), deployed at Alpha Guard location, responded to reports of suspected armed robbers and kidnappers operating along the highway.
Upon arrival at the scene, the troops discovered an ash-coloured Sharon vehicle without a registration number.
Further checks revealed that one passenger had been whisked away by the criminals before the arrival of the troops.
The troops immediately cleared the highway of the obstruction to restore the free flow of traffic and prevent further attacks on motorists.
Efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the kidnapped victim while security forces intensify operations to track down the fleeing criminals.
