Five members of the Myanmar military, including a high-ranking commander, were killed, and three revolutionary fighters fell during a coordinated assault on the Tada-U Air Base, the General Headquarters of the People's Defence Force (PDF) announced on Friday.
According to the statement, a joint revolutionary force launched a drone strike on September 10, 2026, targeting the strategic airbase located in Tada-U Township, Kyaukse District, Mandalay Region.
The revolutionary forces successfully executed a precision attack on the tarmac where the military's Yak-130 fighter jets were stationed, inflicting damage on the aircraft.
Simultaneously, fierce ground clashes erupted near Alal Village when the revolutionary forces intercepted a Military Council patrol column.
The 40-troop column was led by Acting Tactical Commander Colonel Myo Hlaing Oo of Air Defense Battalion No. 7.
Five junta personnel, including Colonel Myo Hlaing Oo, were eliminated in the ensuing firefight. Three revolutionary comrades heroically made the ultimate sacrifice for the country and its people during the operation.
In retaliation, the military launched an aerial assault at approximately 3:00 PM on September 10, deploying Mi-35 attack helicopters and three gyrocopters to bomb the area between Buu Yauk and Alal villages.
The PDF highlighted that the Tada-U facility serves as a primary military airbase headquarters responsible for executing devastating aerial bombings against civilian populations.
The statement further accused the junta regime, led by Min Aung Hlaing, of covering up the operational damage. Instead of acknowledging the hit on its military hub, the regime has deployed deceptive propaganda claiming the attack targeted the neighboring Mandalay International Airport, a civilian facility located directly opposite the airbase.
The PDF reasserted its commitment to completely eradicating the military dictatorship, vowing to intensify offensive operations against the regime's key strategic hubs.
The highly coordinated operation was organized and led by the PDF’s Myingyan District Command. It involved a massive joint coalition, including Myingyan District Battalions 4 and 10, the Myingyan District Drone Unit, Mandalay District Battalion 3, Kyaukse District Battalions 2 and 4, the Shwebo District Battalions 1 and 2, the Special Task Force (STF), and the local People's Defense Forces (PaKaFa) of Tada-U, Sintgaing, and Ngazun townships.
