Air Delivered event in Syrian Arab Republic on Tue 15th September 2026

Syria: US resumed airstrikes in the central desert, with the first bombardment carried out last night. This video shows US warplanes flying over Sukhnah today - which is unusual - during strikes on the surrounding hills. This is the first US bombardment campaign in the region since February. The central desert was once an ISIS sanctuary, but it didn't see a single reported incident since Assad's fall, as IS moved to other areas amid the security vacuum. Areas that were previously avoided by local Bedouins are now regularly frequented by them, with multiple areas cleared from mines & IEDs, with no reports of suspicious activity. US strikes are believed to target old, abandoned IS positions - incl. hideouts, caves & other facilities used by the group years ago.
