Zamfara CPG ambush bandits in Gusau, kill eight

Personnel of the Zamfara Community Protection Guards (CPG) have reportedly killed eight suspected bandits during an ambush in the Mada axis of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The operation took place on Monday evening after the bandits, travelling on motorcycles, were reportedly returning towards their forest hideouts following an attempted attack on civilians.

Sources said CPG personnel intercepted the group and engaged them in a firefight, killing eight of the 10 suspected bandits.

Two others reportedly escaped into the surrounding area during the encounter.

The operation highlights the growing role of local security formations in supporting efforts to disrupt bandit activities and protect vulnerable communities across Zamfara.

Residents have commended the CPG personnel for their swift response, while security forces continue to intensify operations against criminal groups operating across the state.
