Projectile event in Bago Region, Taungoo Township area, Myanmar on Tue 15th September 2026

Junta forces attacked Shwe Laung and Bo Kone villages—located near Milepost 141 of the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway along the border of Taungoo and Oktwin townships in Bago Region—with drones and heavy artillery, killing six civilians and injuring several others, according to local sources.

Starting around 9:00 PM on September 15, junta forces launched unprovoked drone strikes and artillery bombardments on Shwe Laung and Bo Kone villages, situated just west of Milepost 141, despite the absence of any active ground clashes.

The attack resulted in civilian casualties, with six deaths confirmed so far, alongside multiple injuries and damage to residential homes.

Junta forces have blocked travel routes and access toward the villages, preventing local rescue teams from entering the area directly. Consequently, aid workers are waiting near Padauk Khin and Zee Pin Thar villages along the edge of the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway to receive and transport injured residents fleeing the bombardment.

The strikes have forced residents from both Shwe Laung and Bo Kone villages to flee their homes en masse. Because conditions inside the villages remain too unsafe for direct emergency access, rescue operations are being conducted entirely from the perimeter of the highway.
